Sermon “Evolutionary Theology” Dr. Keith Ray
Thoughts to consider: Most of us would agree that we evolve, for better or for worse,
as we navigate life. The same is true for our religious institutions.
But what do we do when we realize what we have professed and taught is wrong?
Is it possible to say that even our sacred texts can be wrong.
Let’s consider these questions together!

1) Help us accept each other as Christ accepted us;
teach us as sister, brother, each person to embrace.
Be present, Lord, among us and bring us to believe
we are ourselves accepted, and meant to love and live.
2) Teach us, O Lord, your lessons, as in our daily life
we struggle to be human and search for hope and faith.
Teach us to care for people, for all, not just for some,
to love them as we find them, or as they may become.
3) Let your acceptance change us, so that we may be moved
in living situations to do the truth in love;

4) Lord, for today’s encounters with all who are in need,

News from Rev. Mike Johnston — “I have completed my radiation for prostate cancer - 5 weeks out and my PSA was 0.03. Doctor was hoping for 0 within 5 months - radiation did its job.” Great news to hear!

It's that time of year, dear friends! The Celebration Ringers of Clemson United Methodist Church offer a free concert, and you have two opportunities to attend!
We will share Hymns We Love to Ring on May 1st (Wednesday) and May 3rd (Friday). In this free concert, we’ll play a collection of well-known hymns—handbell style! So whether your favorite hymn is “Be Thou My Vision” or “Trust and Obey” or maybe even something new, you’re invited to join us in the Clemson United Methodist Church Worship Center on Frontage Road in Clemson, on May 1st at 6:15 pm or May 3rd at 5:00 pm. Feel free to drop in a dollar or five when you like the music during the service. Dave and Polly will donate the “tips” to a cause related to music, such as bringing music to schools.

Church Clean-up days are the 2nd Saturday of the month at 9:30 am and usually take no more than 90 minutes. The sign-up sheet is in the church.

Doug Booth encourages everyone to volunteer at PAWS – there is something for everyone, from socializing with the dogs on-site to taking a dog to lunch to hosting weekend visits. There are many dogs at the facility who crave human interaction. Additionally, don’t forget to bring in any donations of blankets to the church.

Karen highlighted that the Prayer Tree has been moved into the sanctuary. If you have a prayer request to add to the tree, write in on one of the provided tags and hang it on a branch.

Joanne reminds us all to keep up the food donations for AIM (Anderson Interfaith Ministries)! Bring your non-perishable items to the church. This is an on-going need that should become part of everyone’s shopping routine.
