We will provide lunch and attend worship at South Main Chapel and Mercy Center. Please bring foods to their kitchen between 10:30 - 10:45 AM; their service begins at 11:00. We will NOT have worship at 4200 Liberty Highway on 28 April.
On Easter Sunday our service will be held in our labyrinth at 4200 Liberty Highway. If you look in our sanctuary, you will find it empty; we will gather in our labyrinth which is down the hill at the far end of our parking lot. Our service will begin at 8:30 AM and afterwards we share a potluck brunch together. Bring your favorite Bruch Food and join us!
We will host Paula Stone Williams at our church on Tuesday evening, 16 April from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Although Paula will not be with us in person, we will watch her TEDX talk, What I’ve Learned Living as a Man and a Woman talk follow our viewing with discussion. For 35 years, Paula was pastor at a conservative mega-church. She lost her job in 2013 when she decided to live her truth and transition from male to female. She knows much about the differences between how men and women are treated in our society.
We will host Rev. Roger Ray from Springfield Missouri as our guest minister at NACCP on Sunday 7 April. Later that day he will present two lectures at Boulevard Baptist Church as the guest speaker for Anderson Forum for Progressive Theology (AFPT). More about those lectures is available here: https://afptonline.org. Roger’s sermons are available as transcripts, videos or podcast on-line from his church’s website www.spfccc.org.
Roger’s church in Springfield is very similar to NACCP: it is very progressive church in a very conservative setting. “In pew” attendance there is similar to NACCP attendance - 35 to 50 per week. What distinguishes Roger is his on-line following. His sermons are downloaded ~ 15,000 times per week. He receives encouragement and support from many outside his local congregation to “keep preaching”. We are fortunate to have him as our guest on 7 April.
We will host our regular First Sunday Potluck after worship that day and all those interested in talking to Roger will have a chance to do so. Mark your calendars to attend worship (and lunch!) at NACCP on 7 April at 10:15 AM.
